Therapy8 answers

What is Cleansing Therapy?
Cleansing Therapy is a 16-hour full-body protocol of 14 individual cleansing therapies, created by naturopath Dr. Piyush Saxena more than 22 years ago. It supports the body’s own detoxification pathways rather than replacing them.
Who can benefit from Cleansing Therapy?
Most healthy adults looking to support digestion, energy and general wellbeing. It is not a treatment for a diagnosed condition, and anyone under medical care should speak to their registered medical practitioner first.
Is Cleansing Therapy safe?
The protocol is natural and non-invasive, and the Government of India has confirmed that it can be practised under the supervision of a Registered Medical Practitioner. Follow the preparation guidance and do it with a trained practitioner.
How many types of Cleansing Therapy are there?

There are 14 cleanses in the protocol. Camps commonly cover the parasite cleanse, liver cleanse, lung cleanse, eye cleanse, thyroid cleanse, heart cleanse, kidney cleanse, uterus cleanse (for women), prostate cleanse (for men) and others.

Most people start with the parasite and liver cleanses; a practitioner will suggest a sequence for you.

How long does one cleanse take?

A single cleanse runs for about 16 hours from the first step to the last, and most of it is rest. You eat lightly the previous day, take the sequence through the evening and night, and keep the next morning free.

Plan a day at home with easy access to a bathroom, and no travel, driving or commitments.

Is Cleansing Therapy the same as Ayurveda or Panchakarma?

No. Cleansing Therapy comes from naturopathy. Panchakarma is a set of Ayurvedic Shodhana (purification) procedures — Vamana, Virechana, two kinds of Basti and Nasya — carried out by Ayurveda doctors.

Our guide Shuddhi: sharir shuddhi, Shodhana and Panchakarma explains the difference, and this comparison sets the options side by side.

Will I lose weight with Cleansing Therapy?

It is not a weight-loss programme and we do not promise weight loss. Any quick change on the scales after a cleanse is mostly water and gut contents, and it returns.

Lasting change comes from the habits people usually take home from a camp — lighter meals, more vegetables and fibre, less alcohol, more movement and better sleep.

How often can I repeat a cleanse?

Most people leave several weeks between cleanses rather than repeating one back to back, and many do a couple in a year. There is no benefit in doing them close together, and Epsom salt is a laxative, so frequent use is not a good idea.

If you are unsure, ask a Certified Therapy Practitioner to plan the spacing with you, and check with your doctor if you have a health condition.

Camps4 answers

What happens at a WellthyLife camp?

Camps cover 14+ therapies, including the parasite, liver, lung, eye, thyroid, heart and kidney cleanses, plus the uterus cleanse for women and prostate cleanse for men. Meals, timings and each step are organised for you, with practitioners present throughout.

Between sessions there are talks, group activities and rest — most people come for the guidance and leave with a set of habits.

How long does a WellthyLife camp last?
A residential camp runs over 2 nights and 3 days, with around 100 participants, covering all 14 cleansing therapies under expert guidance.
Is a camp better than doing it at home?

It depends on what you want. A camp gives you supervision, a prepared schedule, meals and other participants around you, which suits a first cleanse.

A home kit suits people who have done it before and simply want to repeat a cleanse at their own convenience.

How do I book a camp, and what does it cost?

Upcoming camps, cities and dates are listed on the Get Therapy page, and each one has a registration link. Fees differ by venue and duration, so the camp listing carries the current price.

If you cannot see a camp near you, tell us your city — we plan camps where there is demand.

Safety4 answers

Who should avoid Cleansing Therapy?

Please do not start without medical advice if any of these apply to you:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Diagnosed gallstones or bile duct problems
  • Kidney disease, or a history of kidney stones — Epsom salt is magnesium, which the kidneys clear
  • Heart disease, or medicines for blood pressure
  • Diabetes on insulin or tablets
  • Inflammatory bowel disease, recent abdominal surgery, or a bowel obstruction
  • Anyone under 18

Bring your prescriptions to the conversation so the practitioner and your doctor can see the full picture.

What are the side effects of a cleanse?

The most common experiences are loose and frequent stools, nausea from the oil, cramping, tiredness and a headache. They usually settle within a day.

Drink water and rehydration fluids through the day. See a doctor if you have severe or lasting abdominal pain, fever, vomiting you cannot keep down, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dizziness or very little urine — those need medical attention, not another cleanse.

Can Cleansing Therapy cure a disease?

No, and we do not claim it can. Cleansing Therapy is a wellness practice. It is not a treatment or cure for any disease, and it is not a substitute for care from a registered medical practitioner.

If you have a diagnosed condition, keep taking your prescribed medicines and keep your doctor informed about anything else you do.

What are the green 'stones' people pass after a liver cleanse?

People often report soft green material after an olive oil and citrus cleanse. A 2005 report in The Lancet examined material passed after such a flush and found it to be soap-like, formed from the oil and juice, rather than gallstones.

We think you should know that before you start. Our guide Liver detox: how your liver cleans itself covers the evidence in full.

Materials3 answers

What is in the Original Therapy Kit?

The Liver Cleansing Kit comes in Dr. Piyush Saxena's original box with Olivko extra virgin olive oil, four packs of pure Epsom salt, a step-by-step dosing timetable and an information booklet — enough for one full liver cleanse.

The POP kit adds premium corn silk for a combined liver and kidney cleanse. Family packs are available in bulk.

How do I know a kit is genuine?

Buy from WellthyLife or an official therapy centre or practitioner. A genuine kit arrives in the original sealed box with Olivko oil, sealed Epsom salt packs, the dosing timetable and the booklet.

If anything about a kit looks different, send us a photo before you use it.

Why does the protocol specify Olivko?
The protocol was designed around cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, which retains the polyphenols that refined or pomace oils lose. Olivko is supplied to that specification as part of the Original Therapy Kit.

Preparation3 answers

How do I prepare for a cleanse?

Keep the previous day light and simple: cooked vegetables, fruit, khichdi or dal and rice, and plenty of water. Avoid heavy, fried and very oily food, alcohol and, if you can, caffeine.

Stop eating at the time your instruction booklet says, keep the next morning free, and have your kit, a measuring cup and your fluids ready before you begin.

Can I take my regular medicines during a cleanse?

Ask the doctor who prescribed them. Do not stop or skip a prescribed medicine to do a cleanse.

Because a saline laxative speeds things through the gut, it can affect how medicines are absorbed — including thyroid tablets, the contraceptive pill and diabetes and blood pressure medication. Your doctor can tell you how to time them, or advise against the cleanse.

What should I eat after a cleanse?

Start gently. Fruit, coconut water, buttermilk or chaas, thin dal, khichdi and soft cooked vegetables for the first day, with plenty of fluids.

Heavy, fried or very spicy food and alcohol are best left for a few days. Most people feel better going back to normal meals gradually.

Centres & CTP2 answers

Where are the WellthyLife therapy centres?

Therapy centres operate in cities across India — the Navi Mumbai main centre at CBD Belapur, the New Delhi centre at Janakpuri, and the Bengaluru hub at Indiranagar, among others.

Each centre offers a one-to-one consultation before any cleanse, a quiet space for the therapy itself, and follow-up afterwards. The current list is on the Get Therapy page.

What does a Certified Therapy Practitioner (CTP) do?

A CTP reviews your health profile, suggests which cleanses suit you and in what order, guides your preparation and diet, and supports you afterwards.

You can consult a CTP before buying a kit, and many people do. Find a practitioner through the Get Therapy page.

Certification2 answers

Do I need a medical background to become a CTP?

The course is open to people from different backgrounds, and many practitioners come to it from outside medicine. What matters is completing the training and the evaluation, and practising within its limits.

Check the current eligibility on the Become a CTP page, or ask us about your situation.

What is a Certified Therapy Practitioner (CTP)?
A CTP has completed the 30-day online course and certification, and is authorised to practise and teach Cleansing Therapy within the WellthyLife network.

Should I fast for a few days after the festivals?

A dramatic fast after a dramatic fortnight tends to continue the same pattern of extremes, and the rebound is usually worse than the original excess. Regular meals, restored sleep and less alcohol do more over a fortnight than three days of nothing.

What about a juice cleanse?

A juice-only period removes fibre, is usually high in fruit sugar, and leaves you short of protein. You will lose weight, because it is mostly water and you are eating very little, and you will regain it. If you like juice, have it alongside food rather than instead of it.

How long does it take to feel normal again?

Most people feel noticeably better within four or five days once sleep and hydration are back, and settled within a fortnight. If you still feel heavy, tired and low after three weeks of sensible eating, that is worth a doctor's appointment rather than a stronger cleanse.

Is this a good time to do a Cleansing Therapy cleanse?

For people it suits, the period after the festivals is when most choose to do one, and camps fill up accordingly. But do it as a deliberate reset with a practitioner, not as a punishment for a fortnight of mithai — and read who it is not for first.

I have diabetes and the festivals were difficult. What should I do?

Speak to your doctor, and go before you start any fasting or cleansing plan. Festive weeks often show up in blood sugar readings, and the right response is a review of your numbers and medication, not a detox.

What should I actually eat in the first week?

Ordinary home food, on time. Dal, vegetables, roti or rice, curd, fruit. Enough protein at each meal that you are not hungry an hour later. It is not exciting and it is the entire answer.

What is the best detox centre in India?

There is no single best centre for everyone. Hospital-based Panchakarma suits people wanting classical Ayurveda under a BAMS doctor, residential stays such as Patanjali Wellness suit those with a week or more, and short camps suit people wanting a brief structured reset. Pick one with qualified doctors, medical screening and clear, written prices.

How much does Panchakarma cost in India?

Costs vary widely and many providers do not publish them. As of September 2026, HiiMS and Shuddhi quote on enquiry. Patanjali's Yog Gram lists ₹5,500 to ₹11,000 per day including room, meals and prescribed therapies, with a 7-day minimum, plus registration and any extras. Always ask for a written estimate.

What is a full body detox programme?

It usually means a structured programme of diet changes, therapies and routines over a set period, from a single day to several weeks. In Ayurveda this is Panchakarma; in naturopathy it may be fasting, diet or a set protocol. Your liver, kidneys, gut, lungs and skin already remove waste, and evidence for detox diets is limited.

Do government hospitals offer Panchakarma?

Yes, some do. The All India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi, under the Ministry of AYUSH, describes a 200-bed referral hospital with Panchakarma facilities. The National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur lists OPD and IPD hospital facilities. Contact them directly for current appointments and fees.

Is Panchakarma safe?

Panchakarma includes procedures that deliberately cause vomiting or purging, so it should only be done under a qualified BAMS or MD (Ayurveda) doctor after a proper check-up. It is not suitable for everyone, including some people who are pregnant, elderly or have heart, kidney or bowel conditions. Ask your own doctor first.

How long does a detox programme take?

It depends on the type. Patanjali Wellness stays at Yog Gram and Niramayam have a 7-day minimum. WellthyLife Cleansing Therapy camps typically run 2 nights / 3 days, with the protocol itself taking about 16 hours. HiiMS does not publish stay lengths; it offers day care, inpatient and longer named programmes.

What is the safest way to cleanse your body?

The safest way is to support your organs with daily habits rather than a product. Eat plenty of fibre from dal, millets, vegetables and fruit, add curd or chaas, drink enough water, sleep seven to nine hours, stay active and limit alcohol. These habits have research behind them and are low-risk for most people. Get regular health check-ups too.

How can I clean my stomach naturally at home?

For most people, pet ki safai simply means regular, comfortable bowel movements. More fibre, enough water, daily movement and a fixed meal routine usually help. Fermented foods such as curd and buttermilk may support gut microbes. Avoid relying on laxative teas or enemas. If constipation or diarrhoea lasts more than two weeks, or you see blood, see a doctor.

Is colon cleansing safe?

Mayo Clinic says there is no evidence that colon cleansing offers health benefits. Side effects include cramping, bloating, diarrhoea and vomiting, and serious risks include dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, infection, bleeding and bowel perforation. Coffee enemas have been linked to deaths. People with colitis, bowel obstruction, kidney or heart disease should avoid it, and most people do not need it.

Do juice cleanses remove toxins?

There are no good trials showing that juice cleanses remove toxins. Any weight lost is mainly from eating fewer calories and usually returns. Juice-only diets are low in protein and can cause blood sugar swings, and high-oxalate green juices have harmed kidneys in some cases. Unpasteurised juice is a bacteria risk for children, older people and anyone with low immunity.

What is the difference between body cleansing in Ayurveda and naturopathy?

Ayurveda's purification, called shodhana, centres on Panchakarma, a set of procedures such as therapeutic purgation, emesis, medicated enemas and nasal therapy, done under a qualified Ayurvedic physician. Naturopathy focuses on diet, water, fasting, rest and simple natural routines to help the body heal itself. Both are traditional systems, and scientific evidence for their cleansing claims is still limited.

Which foods help detox the body?

No single food detoxes the body, but a balanced diet helps your organs work well. High-fibre foods like dal, rajma, whole grains, millets, vegetables and fruit support bowel regularity. Fermented foods such as curd, chaas and idli batter may support gut microbes. Water, coconut water and nimbu paani help hydration. Limiting alcohol, sugar and fried or packaged foods matters just as much.

Is Shuddhi the same as Jeena Sikho?

Yes. Shuddhi is the Ayurveda brand of Jeena Sikho Lifecare Ltd, which also runs the HiiMS hospitals. Shuddhi covers Ayurvedic products and what the company calls the Shuddhi Ayurveda Panchkarma Hospital (HIIMS). People searching for Shuddhi Wellness or Shuddhi Ayurveda are usually looking for this same group, as of September 2026, per its websites.

What is the DIP diet?

DIP stands for Disciplined Intelligent Person's diet. As HiiMS describes it, it involves fruit at breakfast in an amount based on body weight, a large salad before lunch, millets and an early dinner. It is publicly credited to Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury. If you have diabetes or kidney disease, ask your doctor before changing your diet this way.

Who founded HiiMS?

HiiMS is run by Jeena Sikho Lifecare Ltd, which was incorporated in 2017 and founded by Acharya Manish; the promoters are listed as Manish Grover and Bhavna Grover. The company listed on the NSE SME Emerge platform in April 2022 and trades under the symbol JSLL.

Is HiiMS a hospital?

HiiMS stands for Hospital and Institute of Integrated Medical Sciences, and the company describes its centres as hospitals, clinics and day care centres. As of September 2026, per its website, it offers inpatient admission (IPD) with 24/7 nursing, as well as OPD, virtual OPD, Day Care Panchakarma and HiiMS @ Home.

Is Cleansing Therapy Ayurveda?

No. Cleansing Therapy is a naturopathy-based wellness protocol created by Dr. Piyush Saxena. It uses extra-virgin olive oil, citrus juice and Epsom salt in a set sequence over about 16 hours. It is not Panchakarma and does not involve Ayurvedic procedures such as Vamana, Virechana or Basti.

How much does HiiMS or Shuddhi Panchakarma cost?

We could not find prices published on the HiiMS or Shuddhi websites as of September 2026. They share costs after an enquiry, usually by phone. Costs are likely to depend on the format and length of treatment, so ask for a written estimate that lists what is included before you book.

Which is better, Shuddhi or Cleansing Therapy?

Neither is better for everyone. If you want classical Panchakarma, an inpatient setting or ongoing Ayurvedic consultations, an Ayurveda provider may suit you. If you are generally healthy and want a short, structured reset with habit guidance, a Cleansing Therapy camp or home kit may fit. Talk to your doctor first if you have a health condition.

What is bhutte ke baal?

The bundle of fine, silky strands you find under the husk of a corn cob. Botanically they are the styles of the maize flower, the part that catches pollen. Each cob has one strand for every kernel.

How do you make corn silk kadha?

Take about 50 g of fresh silk, or 50 g dried. Boil it in enough water to cover it well for ten to twenty minutes, then strain and keep the liquid. Boil the same silk again in fresh water, strain, and combine the two. Repeat once or twice until the colour of the silk fades. Roughly four glasses are drunk across the day. Keep it refrigerated — it spoils quickly.

Does corn silk help with kidney stones?

There is no good human evidence that it dissolves or clears stones, and it should not be relied on for that. If you have stones, that is a matter for your doctor. Drinking enough water is the single most established measure for reducing stone recurrence.

Is corn silk safe?

For most healthy adults, in normal amounts, it is a mild herbal infusion with a long history of use. It should not be taken without medical advice by anyone with kidney disease, anyone on diuretics or blood pressure medicines, anyone with diabetes on glucose-lowering medication, or anyone pregnant. People allergic to maize should avoid it.

Fresh or dried?

Either. If you dry it, do so in the shade rather than direct sun, spread thin, until it snaps rather than bends. Store it airtight and away from light. Discard anything that smells musty — damp silk grows mould easily.

Should I wash it first?

Silk from cobs you have bought whole and shucked yourself is generally clean under the husk. Silk of unknown origin should be rinsed. Corn is a crop that receives agricultural chemicals, so provenance matters here as much as anywhere else.

Do detox teas remove toxins from the body?

No. Your liver chemically modifies substances so they can be excreted, and your kidneys filter your blood continuously — roughly 142 litres a day. No tea adds a step to that process. What a detox tea can do is empty your bowel or make you pass more urine, which feels like something and is not the same thing.

Why do I lose weight on a detox drink then?

Because you are losing water and bowel contents, and usually eating far less. Fat loss takes a sustained energy deficit over weeks. The scale moves quickly and comes back just as quickly, which is why the cycle repeats.

Is senna safe?

As an occasional laxative under guidance, it is a recognised medicine. Taken daily for weeks it can cause dependence, where the bowel becomes reliant on it, along with cramping and potassium loss. Potassium loss matters for heart rhythm. It is not something to drink as a habit.

What about lemon water in the morning?

Perfectly pleasant and mildly useful because it is water and you are drinking it. The lemon is not doing anything special to your liver. If a glass of warm lemon water is how you reliably start hydrating in the morning, that is a good habit — just not for the reason on the internet.

Are there detox drinks worth buying?

As a category, the useful ones are the ones that are honest about being pleasant drinks. If a product claims to remove toxins, flush organs or melt fat, the claim is the problem, not the ingredients. Look at the ingredients list, look for a laxative, and decide from there.

What should I drink instead?

Water, mostly, and enough of it that your urine is pale. Beyond that: food with fibre, less alcohol, and sleep. It is a dull answer and it is the one that works.

What is detox?

In medicine, detox means supervised treatment for poisoning or for alcohol or drug withdrawal. In wellness, it usually refers to diets, drinks or products said to remove toxins, though the toxins are rarely named. Your liver, kidneys, gut, lungs, skin and immune system already handle this work, and there are no randomised trials showing commercial detox diets add to it.

Do detox teas work?

Detox teas do not have good evidence for removing toxins. Many contain laxatives, which can cause diarrhoea and dehydration, and the quick weight loss is mostly water that returns. Regulators have acted against some cleanse products with harmful ingredients, and very high green tea intake has been linked to heart-rhythm problems and liver injury. Ordinary teas in normal amounts are fine.

Can you sweat out toxins?

Not in any meaningful way. Sweat is mostly water and salt, and its main job is to cool you down. Harvard Health describes the skin as a one-way defence system and says toxins are not removed through sweat. The liver and kidneys do that job. Exercise is still excellent for health, but drink enough fluids afterwards, especially in hot weather.

Are juice cleanses healthy?

Juice cleanses are not proven to remove toxins, and any weight lost usually returns. They are low in protein and fibre, can cause blood sugar swings, and unpasteurised juice carries a bacteria risk. High-oxalate green juices have caused kidney damage in some people. Whole fruit and vegetables, eaten as part of balanced meals, are a better choice for most people.

Does activated charcoal detox your body?

Activated charcoal is used in hospitals for some types of poisoning, given by professionals, but it is not clear that over-the-counter detox products work. It can cause black stools, vomiting or constipation, and may reduce the absorption of medicines, including birth control pills. It is best avoided for everyday detox use. If poisoning is suspected, seek emergency care.

Do liver flushes really remove gallstones?

There are no clinical trials showing that liver flushes remove gallstones. In a 2005 letter to The Lancet, doctors reported that the 'stones' passed after an olive oil and juice flush were soap-like material formed in the gut, not gallstones. If you have gallstones, follow your doctor's advice, and do any flush-style wellness routine only with medical clearance.

Is Epsom salt the same as normal salt?

No. Table salt is sodium chloride. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate — a different compound with different effects on the body. The name comes from Epsom in England, where it was first drawn from a spring. Swallowing it does not add sodium to your diet.

Why does a liver cleanse take Epsom salt before the olive oil?

Magnesium relaxes smooth muscle, including the muscle in the walls of the bile ducts and the sphincter of Oddi. Taking it first is what makes the oil dose later in the evening comfortable rather than griping. It is a sequencing decision, not an optional extra, which is why changing the order of a protocol matters.

How much Epsom salt is used, and in how much water?

The protocol uses four doses of about 20 g each, every dose dissolved in roughly 200 ml of water and taken at set times across the evening and the following morning. Dissolving it properly matters: undissolved crystals are far more likely to cause nausea.

Will it make me ill?

It will loosen your bowels — that is what it is for, and people are sometimes alarmed by how quickly. Some people feel queasy, and a few are sick. Chilling the solution and taking it in one go rather than sipping makes it easier. If you are vomiting repeatedly, cannot keep fluids down, or feel faint, stop and speak to a doctor.

Who should not take Epsom salt orally?

Anyone with reduced kidney function or kidney disease, a history of kidney stones, heart block or a heart rhythm problem, anyone dehydrated or unable to drink freely, anyone taking diuretics or regular prescribed medicine, and anyone pregnant or breastfeeding — all without speaking to their doctor first. Magnesium is cleared by the kidneys, so when the kidneys are not working normally it can accumulate.

Can I use the Epsom salt from a chemist's bath section?

No. Bath-grade Epsom salt is not manufactured, tested or labelled for swallowing, and may carry fragrance or impurities. Use only food-grade or pharmaceutical-grade magnesium sulfate, in sealed and marked packaging.

How can I detox my body naturally?

Your body detoxes itself naturally through the liver, kidneys, gut, lungs and skin. You support it by drinking enough water, eating balanced meals with plenty of vegetables, dal and whole grains, moving for at least 150 minutes a week, sleeping seven or more hours, avoiding tobacco, limiting alcohol and getting regular health checks. No special product is needed.

Do detox diets really work?

There is little good evidence that they do. A 2015 review found no randomised controlled trials of commercial detox diets in humans, and NCCIH found no compelling research that they eliminate toxins or help with lasting weight loss. Weight lost on a cleanse mostly comes from eating fewer calories and usually returns once normal eating resumes.

Is a 7-day detox safe?

A gentle 7-day reset based on water, balanced meals, walking, sleep and cutting alcohol and tobacco is safe for most healthy adults. Extreme versions that involve fasting, juice-only diets or laxatives are riskier and can cause dehydration or electrolyte problems. If you have a health condition, are pregnant or take regular medicines, check with your doctor first.

Can you sweat out toxins?

No. Harvard Health describes the skin as a one-way defence system and says toxins are not eliminated in perspiration. Sweating is how your body cools down. Saunas, steam rooms and hot yoga may feel relaxing, but they do not detox you, and in Indian heat they can add to dehydration if you do not drink enough water.

What are the side effects of a body cleanse?

Common side effects include diarrhoea, cramping, bloating, tiredness, headaches and dehydration, especially with laxative-based cleanses. Long fasts can upset electrolytes, and unpasteurised juices can carry bacteria. Some detox products have been found to contain harmful or undeclared ingredients. Stop and seek medical help if you have severe or long-lasting diarrhoea, vomiting or dizziness.

Who should not do a detox cleanse?

Pregnant or breastfeeding women, children, frail older adults and people with diabetes on medicines, kidney or heart disease, liver disease, known gallstones, colitis or a history of bowel obstruction or eating disorders should not start a cleanse without medical advice. Anyone who takes regular prescribed medicines should also check with their doctor first.

What is Cleansing Therapy?

Cleansing Therapy is a naturopathy wellness practice based on Dr. Piyush Saxena's protocol, in which olive oil, citrus juice and Epsom salt are taken in a set sequence over about 16 hours. WellthyLife offers it in supervised camps of two nights and three days and as home kits. It is a wellness practice, not a treatment for any disease.

Are the green stones after a liver flush real gallstones?

No. Laboratory analysis reported in The Lancet in 2005 found the material contained no cholesterol, bilirubin or calcium — the constituents of gallstones — and was instead made of fatty acids from the olive oil combined with potassium from the citrus juice. It is a soap, formed in the gut during the flush itself.

Then why are there so many of them, and why are they green?

Because you drank a large quantity of oil and juice a few hours earlier, and saponification produces a lot of material. The green colour comes from bile pigment staining, which is why they look convincing. Volume and colour are exactly what you would expect from the chemistry.

Does that mean the cleanse does nothing?

It means it does not do that particular thing. People commonly report better digestion, steadier energy and sounder sleep after a cleanse, and a supervised three-day reset away from ordinary routine has its own value. What it is not is a way of removing gallstones.

Why does WellthyLife publish this when others do not?

Because a reader who finds it somewhere else afterwards will conclude, reasonably, that we either did not know or chose not to say. Neither is a good position for the people who define this protocol. We would rather be the source you heard it from.

I have diagnosed gallstones. Can I do a cleanse?

Speak to your doctor before you do anything. Diagnosed gallstones or a bile duct problem is one of the situations where we say plainly that a cleanse is not appropriate without medical advice, and a cleanse is not an alternative to treatment for them.

What should I do with what I pass?

Nothing, medically. If you are curious, note that soap floats and crumbles between your fingers, while a real gallstone is hard and does not. But the useful action after a cleanse is not examining the results — it is what you eat and how you sleep in the weeks that follow.

How can I detox my kidneys naturally?

Your kidneys already clean your blood, so the natural approach is to reduce what strains them. Drink enough water, especially in hot weather, keep sodium under 2,300 mg a day, avoid taking painkillers like ibuprofen regularly without advice, stay active and keep your blood pressure and blood sugar under control. Regular tests matter if you have diabetes or high BP.

How much water should I drink for healthy kidneys?

There is no single number for everyone, because needs change with heat, activity and health. A practical guide is to drink enough through the day that your urine stays pale yellow, and to drink more in Indian summers or when sweating heavily. People with kidney or heart disease may need to limit fluids, so they should follow their doctor's advice.

Are kidney cleanse juices safe?

Not always. Juices made from large amounts of greens or beets are high in oxalate, which can be risky for people prone to kidney stones. A published case described acute oxalate nephropathy in a 65-year-old after a 10-day green smoothie cleanse. Unpasteurised juices can also carry bacteria, and fluid-only diets can upset electrolytes.

Which test shows if my kidneys are healthy?

Two simple tests give most of the picture. A blood test for serum creatinine is used to calculate your eGFR, which shows how well your kidneys filter. A urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) checks for protein leaking into urine, an early sign of damage. Your doctor may also check blood pressure, blood sugar and a routine urine test.

What are the early signs of kidney problems?

Early kidney disease usually has no symptoms, which is why testing matters for people with diabetes or high blood pressure. As it progresses, signs can include tiredness, swollen ankles, feet or hands, breathlessness, nausea and blood in the urine. See a doctor promptly if you notice any of these, rather than trying a home cleanse.

Do painkillers damage the kidneys?

Some can when used often or for a long time. The NHS lists certain medicines, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, among the causes of chronic kidney disease. Occasional use as directed is usually fine for healthy people, but if you need painkillers regularly, talk to your doctor about safer options and kidney tests.

How can I detox my liver naturally at home?

You cannot speed up your liver's detox with a special product, but you can reduce its workload. Lose extra weight gradually if you need to, aim for 150 minutes of activity a week, cut down on alcohol and added sugar, choose whole grains over maida, and stop smoking. These habits are recommended by the NHS for people with fatty liver.

Is fatty liver common in India?

Yes. A 2022 meta-analysis of 50 Indian studies found non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in 38.6% of adults and 35.4% of children, or roughly one in three people. The risk is much higher in people with obesity or diabetes. India added NAFLD to its national non-communicable disease programme in 2021 and updated its guidelines in 2024.

Do liver cleanse drinks or flushes work?

There is no good evidence that liver cleanse drinks or flushes remove toxins or improve liver health. Green 'stones' seen after an olive oil and citrus flush were shown in a 2005 Lancet report to be soap-like material formed in the gut, not gallstones. A lemon or jeera water can be a healthy low-sugar drink, but it does not cleanse the liver.

Are liver detox supplements safe?

Not always. A large US study found herbal and dietary supplements rose from 7% to 20% of drug-induced liver injury cases between 2004 and 2013. Milk thistle evidence is mixed, and turmeric supplements have been linked to acute liver injury. Tell your doctor about any herbal powder or capsule you take, especially alongside prescribed medicines.

What are the first signs of liver damage?

Early fatty liver usually has no symptoms, so it is often found on a blood test or ultrasound. Later warning signs can include yellow skin or eyes, itchy skin, dark urine, pale stools, tiredness and pain under the right ribs. Jaundice symptoms need urgent medical attention, so see a doctor promptly if you notice them.

Which Indian foods are good for a fatty liver?

No single food fixes a fatty liver, but a balanced Indian plate helps. Choose millets such as jowar, bajra and ragi, whole wheat atta, dal, sprouts, plenty of vegetables and whole fruit. Cut back on sugary chai, cold drinks, mithai, maida and deep-fried snacks. Combined with regular exercise, these swaps support gradual weight loss.

How can I clean my lungs naturally?

Your lungs clean themselves naturally through mucus and tiny hair-like cilia that sweep out trapped particles. You help most by reducing what you inhale: stop smoking, check the AQI, wear a well-fitted N95 on bad-air days, use clean cooking fuel, ventilate your kitchen and stay active. There is no special food or drink that scrubs the lungs.

Can a smoker's lungs detox after quitting?

Quitting smoking is the single most important thing a smoker can do for their lungs, because it stops the ongoing damage and lets the lungs' own cleaning system work without constant new smoke. How much recovers varies from person to person. Your doctor can advise on support to quit and whether you need any lung tests.

Do N95 masks help against air pollution?

Well-fitted N95 or equivalent respirators filter fine particles far better than cloth or surgical masks. A 2024 Delhi modelling study estimated that around 13% of short-term excess deaths could be avoided if at least 30% of residents followed air-quality alerts and wore efficient respirators during peak pollution. Fit matters, so make sure it seals well.

Does pranayama detox the lungs?

Pranayama and slow breathing can help many people feel calmer and more comfortable, which is a genuine benefit. However, there is no good evidence that breathing exercises remove pollution from the lungs or treat lung disease. Use them alongside practical steps like avoiding smoke and bad air, and check with your doctor first if you have a lung condition.

Do lung detox teas work?

There is no good evidence that lung detox teas, herbal steams or supplements clean the lungs. A warm drink such as adrak-tulsi chai may soothe a sore throat, which is fine, but it does not remove particles or toxins. Harvard Health also notes there is no evidence that healthy lungs need extra oxygen from so-called oxygen detox products.

When should a cough be checked for TB in India?

Under India's national TB programme, anyone with a cough lasting more than two weeks, with or without other symptoms, should be assessed for tuberculosis. Other warning signs include fever, night sweats, weight loss and coughing up blood. TB testing is available free at government health facilities, so get checked rather than trying home remedies.

What is the minimum stay at Yog Gram Haridwar?

Yog Gram's website states a minimum stay of 7 days. Based on its published per-day rates, a 7-day stay in a Nisarg cottage works out to ₹45,500 for one person, before the ₹300 registration fee and any prescribed extras. This is our calculation from their rates, not an official quote.

What is Niramayam in Patanjali?

Niramayam is one of Patanjali Wellness's residential centres in Haridwar. Its website says bookings are for a minimum of 7 days with 100% advance payment, plus ₹500 for registration and doctor consultation and ₹1,000 for a treatment kit bag per person. Daily charges include recommended food and prescribed therapies.

Does Patanjali Wellness offer Panchakarma?

Yes. Patanjali Wellness lists Panchakarma among its therapies, alongside yoga therapy, Ayurveda, naturopathy, Shatkarma, diet therapy, acupressure, acupuncture and physiotherapy. At Yog Gram, therapies prescribed by the doctor are included in the day rate, though some specialty therapies are charged extra.

How is a Cleansing Therapy camp different from Patanjali Wellness?

A WellthyLife camp is much shorter, typically 2 nights / 3 days, and centres on one naturopathy protocol using olive oil, citrus juice and Epsom salt over about 16 hours. Patanjali Wellness stays are at least 7 days with a wide mix of yoga, Ayurveda and naturopathy therapies. Camp fees are listed on the Get Therapy page.

Is there a cheaper alternative to a residential detox stay?

A home programme costs less. For example, WellthyLife's Liver Cleansing Therapy kit is listed at ₹1,499 as of September 2026. At home you are not supervised, so it is best for generally healthy adults who have checked with their doctor. People with health conditions may be better off with a medically supervised setting.

What is the meaning of shuddhi?

Shuddhi (शुद्धि) is a Sanskrit and Hindi word meaning purity or purification. It is used in many settings: cleaning a home, purifying the mind through prayer or meditation, and cleansing the body. In a health context, sharir shuddhi refers to purification of the body, which Ayurveda calls Shodhana and carries out mainly through Panchakarma under a qualified physician.

What is sharir shuddhi?

Sharir shuddhi literally means purification of the body. In everyday use it can mean simple steps like a day of light sattvic food, fasting or more water. In Ayurveda, formal sharir shuddhi is Shodhana, which centres on the Panchakarma procedures, preceded by oleation and sudation and followed by a graded diet. Formal procedures need a qualified Ayurvedic physician.

What is Panchakarma and what are its five procedures?

Panchakarma means five actions and is the core of Shodhana in Ayurveda. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the five procedures are Vamana (therapeutic emesis), Virechana (purgation), Niruha or Asthapana Basti (decoction enema), Anuvasana Basti (oil enema) and Nasya (nasal administration). Some classical texts count both enemas as one and add Raktamokshana, or therapeutic bloodletting.

What is the difference between Shodhana and Shamana?

Shodhana is purification therapy that aims to remove the causes of imbalance from the body, mainly through Panchakarma. Shamana is a palliative approach that calms and stabilises the doshas without removing them, using controlled fasting and thirst, sun and fresh air, exercise and digestive aids. Physicians often choose Shamana for milder issues and Shodhana only for people strong enough to go through it.

Is Panchakarma scientifically proven?

Not yet. Research is limited to a few small studies. A 2016 study found changes in some blood fats after a six-day Panchakarma retreat compared with a holiday, and a 2002 study of 15 people reported lower levels of some pollutants, but neither was large or randomised. NCCIH says Ayurveda research is limited and it should not be used to delay seeing a doctor.

Is Shuddhi Ayurveda the same as Cleansing Therapy?

No. Shuddhi is a brand used by Jeena Sikho Lifecare Ltd for Ayurvedic products and its Shuddhi Ayurveda Panchakarma Hospital (HiiMS). Cleansing Therapy is a naturopathy routine created by Dr. Piyush Saxena, using olive oil, citrus juice and Epsom salt over about 16 hours, offered through WellthyLife camps and kits. Our separate comparison article explains how the formats differ.

How long is a camp and where are they held?

Two nights and three days, usually at a hotel or resort with grounds, most often over a weekend. Locations move around India through the year. Tell us your city and we will send the next dates near you.

Will I be hungry?

Less than you expect. The last food is at about two in the afternoon on the cleanse day, and by the time the evening doses begin most people find hunger has faded rather than grown. Boredom is more of a problem than hunger, which is part of why doing it alongside other people helps.

Will I sleep?

Not well, and that is expected. The oil dose is at ten, you lie on your right side, and the bowel movements begin in the early hours. Nobody sleeps through it. It is one night.

Can I go alone?

Most people do, and most say the group is the part that surprised them. You are doing something slightly strange alongside twenty other people doing the same thing, which turns out to make it much easier than doing it at home on your own.

What should I bring?

Loose comfortable clothes, whatever you would normally take for two nights, your regular medicines with a list of them, and a water bottle. Materials for the cleanse are provided. Do not bring snacks — you will not want them and they make the day harder.

What if I feel unwell during the night?

There are practitioners on site through the night and you tell them. That is the main practical argument for a camp over doing it at home for the first time: someone experienced is awake and available.

What is cleansing therapy?

Cleansing therapy is a naturopathy wellness practice developed by Dr. Piyush Saxena. It uses extra-virgin olive oil, citrus juice and Epsom salt, taken in a set sequence over about 16 hours after a day of light eating. The liver cleanse is the best-known type, and the programme describes 14 cleansing types in all. It is not a medical treatment and does not replace care for any condition.

How long does cleansing therapy take?

The core sequence takes about 16 hours, usually from the afternoon of one day to the next morning. Add a preparation day of light eating before it and a gentle day of recovery after it. Supervised WellthyLife camps are typically 2 nights and 3 days, which covers preparation, the sequence itself and a guided return to normal meals.

Is cleansing therapy safe?

For many healthy adults who follow instructions, the main effects are loose stools, tiredness and some nausea. It is not suitable for everyone. People with gallstones, kidney disease, heart conditions, diabetes on medication, pregnancy or breastfeeding, recent surgery, or those under 18 should speak to a doctor first. Stop and seek help for severe pain, yellow skin, fever or repeated vomiting.

Are the green stones passed after a liver cleanse real gallstones?

Probably not. In a 2005 letter to The Lancet, doctors Christiaan Sies and Jim Brooker reported that 'stones' passed after an olive oil and juice flush were soap-like material formed in the gut from the oil and juice, not gallstones. There are no clinical trials showing that liver flushes remove gallstones, so they should not be used for that purpose.

Should I choose a home kit or a camp?

If it is your first time, or you want support, a supervised camp is usually the easier option because the team runs the timings, meals and rest for you. A home kit suits healthy adults who have done it before or have checked with their doctor, and who have a quiet day and someone at home. Certified practitioners offer a middle path.

How much does a cleansing therapy kit cost?

As of September 2026, the wellthylife.in homepage lists the Liver Cleansing kit at ₹1,499, the POP kit at ₹1,999 and combos from ₹2,999. Camp fees vary by city and date, so check the Get Therapy page for current camp details before you book. Prices can change, so always confirm at the time of ordering.

Can I do a cleanse while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No, not without your doctor's advice, and in pregnancy the answer is usually simply no. Fasting, fluid loss and a laxative are not appropriate when you are supporting another person's development, and the nutritional demands of both pregnancy and breastfeeding run in the opposite direction to a day without food.

I have diabetes. Is a cleanse safe?

This needs your doctor. If your diabetes is managed with insulin or with sulfonylureas, a day without food carries a real risk of hypoglycaemia, and the medication dose usually has to be adjusted by someone who knows your case. Do not adjust it yourself.

I have kidney stones but my kidneys are fine. Does that matter?

Yes, mention it. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, cleared by the kidneys, and a history of stones is a reason for your doctor to look at whether this is sensible for you specifically. It is a conversation, not necessarily a no.

What about children?

Cleansing protocols of this kind are not for anyone under eighteen. Growing bodies have different nutritional needs, fluid loss is less well tolerated, and there is no good reason to introduce fasting to a child.

I take blood pressure tablets. Is that a problem?

Tell your doctor. Any regular medicine is worth checking, because a laxative changes how quickly what you swallow is absorbed, and some blood pressure medicines interact with magnesium or with fluid loss.

Does saying all this not put people off?

Some, yes. Those are the people it was not suitable for, and we would rather they knew. Anybody who tells you a health practice suits everybody has stopped advising and started selling.
